Muscle Release Technique

Muscle release technique is a unique therapy that combines compression, extension, movement, and breath to help provide relief from pain. Using this technique, scar tissue is broken up, the muscle is lengthened, muscle memory is restored, and relief from pain starts immediately. Any time there is an injury to a muscle, it results in the formation of scar tissue. Scar tissue will keep the muscle inflexible, resulting in a shortened muscle over time. When the muscle is kept in this shortened position for an extended period of time, the muscle memory is lost and the chance of re-injury is increased. Superficial nerve impingement can be associated with this condition, resulting in pain. Muscle release technique is performed by placing the patient in particular positions so that the muscle is in a contracted position. Pressure is then applied directly into specific points on the muscle. The muscle is then stretched into it’s fully extended position. The combination of a specific extension, precise compression point, and an exact plane of movement can break the adhesions in the muscle. This takes the muscle out of it’s contracted position, restoring normal movement and function.
